There were 997 pennies placed on the train track between the town of Paonia, Colorado and the closest coal mine (approx. 5 miles away). One penny per million grossed by the coal mining industry in the previous year. Flattened pennies were collected and placed on a honeysuckle tree in the town's center. The community was invited to write thoughts and wishes regarding the project onto the hanging pennies.
